Cybicom Atlas Defence (CAD) is a proudly South African Electronic and System Engineering company with a 15-year track record in Defence, Space and Airborne related systems and simulators. CAD is jointly owned by Cybicom Africa Technologies (Pty) Ltd (60%) and Atlas Elektronik GmbH (40%) and was originally created to provide in-country local support for the combat suite installed on the South African Navy’s Heroine Class Submarines.

At inception, CAD was primarily focused on submarine systems technology with its main areas of expertise in submarine combat and the SONAR suite. This allowed for organic growth, enabling the company to evolve from undertaking warranty repairs to various submarine and defence-related projects including safety equipment, design and development of 3D graphical training simulators and construction and integration of a land-based Submarine Combat Suite for the South African Navy.

CAD grew from humble beginnings in 2003, and today boasts a headcount in excess of 30 full time employees, most of whom are highly technical core resources that are active all-over South Africa and in high demand worldwide. CAD has taken the lead role in many large and complex integration projects, applying expertise from system and sub-system design and development, into delivering product-based simulator solutions for local and international Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s).

CAD prides itself on the technical abilities of its people with experience in a wide array of Electrical and System Engineering tasks. These range from Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design and manufacture by IPC-rated technicians and artisans who are able to troubleshoot and repair intricate PCB’s and cable looms, right through to Systems Engineers with expertise in Product Design, Simulator Systems, Naval Command and Control with Maritime Domain Awareness as well as Submarine Safety Equipment. CAD is a strong partner for in-country support of various OEM’s with its own brand of unique and creative solutions for the local market.
